Off the court, Rudy dedicates his time to his many philanthropic endeavors. Throughout his tenure in Memphis, Gay was a longtime Hoops for St. Jude campaign ambassador, donating $22,222.22 in each of his last three seasons to support the program. In April of 2012, Gay was honored with the Kia NBA Cares Community Assist Award.

More recently, Rudy Gay has established the Flight 22 Foundation which benefits disadvantaged youth in the community.
